So I guess I’m stating the obvious… but yesss. I’VE DESIGNED A T-SHIRT! Designing clothes and getting creative with outfits has always been something that I’ve loved doing. So I couldn’t help but say yes when @solostitch asked me if I wanted to work with them to created an exclusive collection of embroidered poducts! The “Boob” tee is the first of the collection and I thought it deserved to have it’s own blog post because its one of my fav’s and is just such a fun versatile piece ! So I though I would share some photos of it and how I would style it and the basis for the design… because you know there are much more to designs than meets the minds eye π
We wanted to create a collection that you could wear everyday, but still was bold and eye-catching and clearly something special. Solostitch is run by two amazing girlies hand stitching almost anything and coming up with new bold designs. We thought it would only be fitting to create a “feminist” tee, one that represents strong independent women who aren’t afraid to do what they love doing. With the recent “free the nipple” campaign going round, it also seemed only fitting to design a t-shirt that can clearly be re-presented by women. “The Boob Tee”. Yes, a little out there, yes rather eye catching, but it’s making a statement and it’s making a point. You should be able to wear what you want, where you want! Boobs are one of the most characteristic parts a women’s body so we should celebrate them ! Of course, I don’t mean literally getting your boobs out and flashing, but by all means if that’s what you want to do then there’s nothing stopping you! I always have the analogy that if you like it , wear it, don’t bother about what other people think ! Life’s WAY too short to please everyone.
As for the design, we didn’t want to create your average boob tee… No no, we wanted to create something much more. The front of the tee is to look like the an “underboob” so the simple outline of a boob, and of course, we just had to create heart shaped nips because life wouldn’t be as fun otherwise π The nips are red with a black outline, we just thought the touch of red would just add a little colour to the otherwise mono-chrome tee and just make it look a little more interesting… Also… why would you want a black heart?! NO-WAY hahahah π
Instead of being just the outline of the boob, we decided to make it more like a “bra”… Supportive π This means we designed to have a line going all the way from the underboob, over the shoulder and down the back, and ends where you would expect a bra strap to end ! We thought this extra added touch would be really lovely and just adds some detail on the back of the tee. Just to make it look interesting both from the front and the back ! It just makes the piece a little more eye catching and funky in my opinion π
I would be absolutely over the moon if you could support @solostitch by buying one of my cheeky tee’s! Don’t forget that all their tee’s are hand embroidered, so they’re super special ! Simply click on any of the “solstitch” words in this blog post to be directed to their Depop page ! π
If you end up getting a tee, I’d love to see how you style it, so use the #izzyxsolostitch hashtag on instagram so that I can see all your looks !
I hope you enjoyed this little blog post, hopefully it gave you a little insight into the design and how we came up with it ! I’ll see you in my next one for something a little more deep and less “fashiony”?!…
