Red Hues

Ahhhhh, I’m so excited to be finally writing a new blog post after what feels like forever ! Okay, so maybe it has been forever and it’s just because the blog had a couple of technical glitches which I had to sort out. Which took a little longer than expected! 🙁

It is most definitely spring here in the UK and it was only fitting to wear an outfit that brought the perfect winter to spring transition into place. Red is always a staple colour to wear because it’s an autumn colour that fits perfectly with the colours of spring. In my search for lovely red shades, I’m wearing this really cute vintage tennis skirt. Skirts like this always add a sporty touch to an outfit which is otherwise contemporary; I guess you can say that it makes the look a little less formal. It’s very “American Apparel” thats for sure !

The bell sleeve has most definitely made a comeback in recent months and so of course I had to have a little taste of the trend and went and bought myself this stunning asymmetric bell sleeve top from Zara for £3.99! Not only is it a bargain but the sleeve is pretty usual with it’s oversized mesh bell; I just loveeee it ! I’ve always been a fan of the classic Parisian style (and the French language of course) so I wanted to channel my inner love for the French style by wearing my favourite little red beret. I’ve worn it in my last blog post but I just can’t get enough of it! It adds that perfect bit of class to a quirky and modern look. Adding to my French inspired look, I decided to wear a cravat to add a little modesty to my neck and to add some dimension to an outfit that would otherwise appear “flat.” I’m always trying to add a little dimension and flavour to my looks 😛 .

The finishing touches to this look were definitely the bag and the shoes!! If you know me personally or have been reading my blog for a little while then you will know how much I love faux fur!! It’s the perfect way to add texture to any outfit and I’m that crazy girl who would wear it all year round even though  conventionally it’s a winter thing! But who cares about convention? Wear what you want when you want! 😉

This bag was something that I made a few years ago with an old fur waist coat that no longer fitted me, I decided to make it into an envelope clutch because I always thought that they looked so classy and simple. I also added a little beading to the bag to add some extra colour and pattern. As for shoes I went for black pony skin loafers with some stunning beading detail on the front. The perspex heel is such a good way to fuse a vintage looking shoe with a contemporary flare. It’s monotone colour makes it pretty suitable for most outfits; the gold beaded bar across the front adds a little breadth and a splash of colour to the black frame making them a little more special and interesting.

A couple of family and friends have asked where these photos were taken and they were shot at Somerset House off Southbank in London ! It’s such a beautiful location with stunning admiral architecture, good restaurants and café’s and not to forget the number of art exhibitions that are on all year round. If you are ever to visit London or want somewhere nice to visit on a day trip then definitely go here! It’s one of my favourite places to go! <3

I hope you liked this blog post! It’s so nice to finally get back into blogging and I can’t wait to share more things with you all in the near future!

Ciao for now, Izzy xxx
